This month past so fast, I fell like I am here for onlu 2 weeks.
Dogan gave us training about Video Editing Software. That was very interesting, and I realy like to learn more about that. Soo I told that to Dogan and he alowed me to work on the video that we took about the Galata Tower. I host that video and the reports were made on ceveral different location near Galata tower, so my work was to cut the reports properly, place them in the rigth seqvence and remove noise and to add title in the video. That was really interesting, I learn so many things about the software but still it is difficult tool so I will start to read tutorials and learn it in more detalis and Dogan will help me also.
On Tuesday we recored new show and we decide to play one game Silent Movie (in my country we call it Pantomima). That was really funny. We played in two groups, each group wrote 6 names of movies, one member from the group was acting, describing the name without words, while the other one was guessing. And ofcourse my group won. My partner was Memet.
Also last week Remzi check my English Presentation, he told me what I need to coreck and today I placed them in Zeitin documents on Trac. On Saturday, Zeitin was broadcasting the Graduation Ceremony of Isik University, and the University has bildings in Sile and also in Istanbul. The ceremony was in Istanbul, and it was wery close to my dorm, in Maslak. So I and Apurva went there and with Dogan, to help him. But the equpment was already there and we didn`t have lot of work to do, so we were watching the event. It was very formal and very nice. Berk and Efe were also graduiating. The ceremony end at 8 o`clock and after that we went out with other interns from IAESTE. On Sunday we went to Kapali Carshi, but unfortunatly if was closed :) and we went to Sultan Ahmet mosque and Aja Sofia.
Today is new work week, new tasks :) I will write againg at the end of the weeek

See you soon :)

Broadcasting, recording shows, bike tour and presentation...

I didn`t have time this weekend to write what has happend last week and now I fell like I don`t know where to start at.

Last week all of the interns came to the company and now we are around 15 interns here. In Tuesday we had Marketing meeting, and 4 of the new interns join the meeting. Actualy they are studing similar subject as mine, something conected with marketing, business administration and international relationships. It was good to know that there are interns that are not from IT areas becouse sometimes I tougth that there is no work for me here.At the meeting we got tasks, mine was to analise web sites of companies similar to Zeitin and to write basic questions, that customeres actualy want to know, and the questions will be used while developing marketing strategy and for inproving the Web Site. I wrote around 30 questions,Remzi check them and he said that they are ok.

Last week also the interns were separate into 3 gruops and each of the group practice broadcasting and at the same time acting something. I was in same group with Apurva, Barish, Yavuz, Mehmet, and Birc. It was interesting, we decide to make talk show and Birc was the host and he was wery talented about that. Next day the other group were making some show and gosiping the organization and they invite me and Apurva as a guest.

This weekend Samet and Dogan organized tour to the Princess Islands and riding bicycles around the bigest Island, Buyukada. We join them and also we toke our roomate Sema with us. It was very interesting, the whole natura was beatuful and I liked the fact that there were not cars or any other vehicles but onlu bicycles and pajtons. I rely enjoy that day.

Next day I start to prapare my presentation, I was going to present in Monday, topic was my country Macedonia, but in the dorm there was not internet whole day. Thats why I went to office early in Monday morning at 9 in order to finish it. Dogan helped me with the background and Emre was responsible for the broadcast. The presentation I think was ok, but I am not sure how many people understod me, mostly becouse I spoke were fast:) but anyway I hope that they learn something new about my country. Today Emre was presenting Nintendo and I was responsible for recording and broadcasting.

After the presentation yesterday, Dogan told me that again today my group is going to record show, but this time I was in new group. We were discusing about the topic of the show and we decide to make report about Galata Tower, I was hosting the show. It was a little bit difficult, first becouse it was very very hot and also people were staring at us they tought that we are from some televison, but anyway I hope the end result will be good.

I hope I didn`t forget something and sorry If I am borring by explaining everything in details.

Bye

Weekend at Şile

This was the most interesting working weekend, not just because of the conference but because of after conference time.
So it began Friday morning. Remzi called Apurva the day before and he told her that there is a place for her too. I was very happy about that, because I wasn`t sure what is going to be and where are we going, and with Apurva at least I would have company for my room and I won`t feel like the only stranger their. So we packed Friday morning and we went to Zeitin office, and after that we catch bus to Ishte Universitu. Berk came with us, and Remzi and Dogan came with car and they toke the whole equipment in the car.
We arrived at the University around at 2 o`clock, and I liked the whole komplecs very much. It was huge, the buildings were all new, the rooms were like a hotel with three stars and the most important thing, it was next to the Black Sea. That was amazing. On one side you can se the sea and on the other site you can see green forest. I think that if I live their I would study with pleasure!

The name of the town which was near Ishik University was Shile, it was very beautiful place, settled on hills next to the sea. There were also rocks in the sea with old walls on their top. At the highest point of the city, their was a Lighthouse, the biggest one in Turkey, build in around 1850s.
When Remzi and Dogan arrived they took us to the hotel. The conference was organized by Isce University and was taking place in Dedeman Hotel. I really like the hotel, it was very beautiful inside, with big pool but everything seems expensive. The conference started at Saturday morning and least till Sunday evening, but we went there one day earlier in order to place and test the equipment. Actually Zeitin was sponsor of this conference and we were broadcasting the whole event for free, in order to promote our company.
After we placed the equipment and everything was ok, we went on dinner and we ate fish on boat. The fish was very good and tasty and also the view was amazing, the boat was a kind of opposite to the city. Now the most enjoyable part was taking place: carting. We went to race on carting and it was my first time and I really enjoy it, mostly because I am speed addicted?. We went on karting even the next day after the conference. The carting was very fun even beside the fact that I`m still feeling pain in my arms, legs and backbone?. After karting the first day we went in some bar to try nargile. First the location of the bar was very astonishing, it was just above the sea and also it was my first time to try Nargile ? and I like it, but I was not good at smoking actually I smoked very funny and everyone laugh at me. At the end of the day we went to our room and we were very tired. Next day we have had breakfast at 7:30 and we went to the hotel.

Now a little bit about the conference. The conference was actually about the 150 anniversary of Shile Lighthouse and they were discusing about the city and its history, then about the Lighthouse in Shile, and at the end they show a film about the lighthouse. Zeitin was broadcasting the whole event, and at the same time the company had had stand in the hole for presenting it`s products. That was my position. I was shearing flares and I was presenting the company if somebody was interested.
Saturday night after the conference first we went od diner and after that again on nargile, in another bar but with same beautiful position. We played tabla (backgame) and Apurva try table at first time, and she was very good at it and very lucky?. Next day noting special happen at the conference, It was a lit bit boring, and after it finished, we cached the bus and came to Istanbul.
We were little bit tried, but anyway I have had great time there, I liked the town, the dormitory and evenings their.

So bye bye guys, I`ll write new information very soon !!!

The second week is over:)

I know that I promased to write post every day, but I am a little bit lazy :)
My first weekend in Istanbul was interesting,I went with my roomate Sema in the Old Part of the town and I like it soo much. We spend a whole day there but I stil haven`t seen everything.Later that same night it start raining and it didn`t stoped till Wensday. Sunday morning our fourth roomate arived. She is from India, her name is Apurva and she is very nice. We were very suprised becouse we didn`t expect anyone else, and the most interesting part of the story is the coincidence that she is going to be intern in Zeitin too, so two months for now on we are going to be together all the time.
Monday at work it was full. Most of the interns arived including Apurva. After lunch we have had a meeting about Marketing Strategy. Remzi was leading the meeting becouse he is responsible for the marketing aspects of the work. The meeting was held on English becouse of me and Apurva. During the meeting we were sugesting differens tools that the company should use in order to promote. Now Remzi should create marketing strategy, that fits companies need and is within the planned budget for marketing.
The other days pass well. I finish with the presentation on english for the company and for each of the products, and one of the employees(I forgot his name:)) create sutable backgrounds for the presentation, becouse I am not good at choosing colors and pictures:) I also start prepearing for my presentation. Next week I am going to have prezentation about my lovely country:).
Today we had a lunch at the company, and I like it so much. It was some traditional turkish food with soup and salad, and it was very tasty, I adore home prepaired food, becouse it remind me on my mum :)
This weekend there is saminar and fair in some university in Istanbul, and the company is also taking a part, so several people from company are going to be there and they invate also me and Aplurva to go their. We are leaving tomorow and are going to be there till Sunday. I hope it is going to be interesting. I don`t know many detals about this event, I will write more on Monday about this, i just know that on Satrday we are going to make live broatcasting.

And thats all for this week:)

See ya on Monday

My first work week

I came to Istanbul this Sunday in order to start with my internship on Monday,31 Maj. My friends from IAESTE (The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) arranged me a place at dormitory and they took me to Zeitin at the first day.
We came at the company at 11 a.m and I notice that almost nobody was here. There were just two girls and they explained me that the working hours at Zeitin are flexible, meaning that the employees can come at work whenever they want to. I notice that most of the employees came around 1 or 2 p.m but they stay at work till 8 or 9 o'clock. This is one of the things that I like about the company, because I known that nobody wants to get up early for going to work, even me :).
Later that same day one of the employees, Samet, came to me and explained me several things and principles that I should know about the company. In short lines he explained me almost everything about the company and what am I going to do here this summer. He also gave me several tasks(tickets) that I should complete during this week. For each task I must search help from one of the employees and Samet suggests that I should look help from different employees, in order to meet them better. During this previous days Remzi. Guray and Idil helped me a lot.
Zeitin is a company that is placed in Istanbul, near Taksim square, the company is producing video streaming server - Vidi, that allows web developers to add live streaming video capabilities easy to web sites or web applications. Zeiting has four main products: Vidicall, Vidiedu, Vidicast and Vidiluck.
Now I would make a summary of the work that I was doing in those previous days and from tomorrow I will write more about each day as intern in Zeitin.
During this week employees opened me e-mail account and they add me to the e-mail list. Now I also have accounts at company`s tracking system and CRM, and while opening the accounts, they gave me training for each of the software.
Next days the boss, Giray, gave me tasks to control Google AdWords, and under his supervision I add several key words and next days I should work on designing banners for the company. Idil gave me another task, to prepare English presentations, one for the company and four others for each products.
From this Monday there going to be more interns at this company, around 15 and thats why Zeitin rent the office space that are on the flat below. Because of this today afternoon everybody was involved in preparing the offices, so we were moving furniture, computers etc.

Now it is time to go home, so I will write more in detail from tomorrow.

See ya
